Spring Road, Upper Tulpehocken Township

Tuesday, May 8, 2007

At 1850 hours, Company #27 was dispatched to assist Strausstown Volunteer Fire Company (Company #50) with a reported working fire at a duck farm on Spring Road, Upper Tulpehocken Township.  Company #27 responded with the full station.  Engine #27 was assigned as dump site engine; Engine #27-1 established the first fill site at Anthony's Mill pond; Tanker #27 was assigned to water shuttle operations; and Car and Rescue #27 provided support at the scene.

Crews were able to save some of the structure, but because of the extent of the fire upon FD arrival, only a small portion of the flock of several thousand ducks was able to be saved.

Company #27 remained on scene assisting Company #50 for several hours before being placed available.
